Car Drying Towel Guide: 1600 GSM SLURPY

Posted by Aqualux Detail Supply on 20th Oct 2026

For most cars, the drying towel we use is the SLURPY 20×30. It is 1600 GSM twisted-loop microfiber, 70/30, edgeless, and it holds a lot of water per drag.

What GSM means on a drying towel

GSM is grams per square meter. A higher number is a denser, thirstier towel. The SLURPY is 1600 GSM, and it handles a car if you wring it into a bucket between panels.

SLURPY vs SLURPY MAXX

Buy the SLURPY 20×30 for cars and small SUVs. Buy the SLURPY MAXX for trucks and full-size vehicles. It is 1700 GSM, 26 by 34 inches, with a hidden edge, sized for full-size vehicles.

How we dry a car

  1. Rinse the soap off. Do not dry a dirty panel.
  2. Fold the SLURPY into a pad, not a ball.
  3. Drag it across the panel. Do not scrub.
  4. Wring it into an empty bucket, not onto the ground beside the car.
  5. Finish edges and mirrors with a clean face of the towel.

What not to dry with

Do not dry paint with The Swiss 16×16. Those are 350 GSM buffing towels for taking spray and sealant residue off, not for pulling gallons of water.

Wash microfiber separately from cotton. No fabric softener, no bleach. Tumble dry low or air dry.
